Permit to Import Chemicals
Chemicals and Waste Management Department – Chemicals Classification and Management Section
A service providing applicants with a permit to import chemicals to sell, use, sell and use or re-export
1- Application submitted electronically on Bayan with all required documents
2- Application consideration and evaluation
3- Electronic payment of permit fees
4- Receipt of Permit/approval
To adhere to the following:
- Royal Decree no. 46/95 issuing the Law on Handling and Use of Chemicals
- Ministerial Decision no. 248/97 issuing the Regulations for the Registration of Chemical Substances and the Relevant Permits
- Ministerial Decision no. 317/2001 issuing the Regulations for Packing, Packaging and Labeling of Hazardous Chemicals
- Ministerial Decision no. 14/2017 Specifying the Fees for Obtaining Chemicals Handling Permits
-Hazardous Chemicals Regulations
- The technical specifications of permits issued by the Environment Authority
Additional conditions:
- To have a permit to sell or use chemicals (Environmental Permit to Handle Hazardous Chemicals)

- Website of Royal Oman Police (ROP) - Directorate General of Customs (Bayan system)
One (1) working day, subject to meeting all requirements
Permit valid for one (1) year or until quantity running out (whichever is earlier)
Permit to use/sell/sell and use/re-export hazardous chemicals
- Chemical Safety Card
- For precursors, a purchase order issued to the buyer
- For transformer and capacitor oils, a PCB analysis certificate issued by the manufacturer is required
- Permit to use or sell hazardous chemicals (Environmental Permit to Handle Hazardous Chemicals)

Importing less than 2 tons OMR 30
Importing 2 to less than 10 tons OMR 70
Importing 10 to less than 100 tons OMR 150
Importing more than 100 tons OMR 300
